I always thought the only people who needed the Lord were those with problems. People addicted to drugs or alcohol came to the Lord. I didn't have those problems why did I need to change? I wasn't worried about my soul but someone else was...
I was working for a family that attended Christ Anchored Tabernacle. The husband kept witnessing to me but I told him I was Catholic. I obeyed the Ten Commandments, went to church, and treated people well. Why did I need to change churches? I didn't realize I wasn't saved. More or less to stop this man from witnessing to me I agreed to attend a Bible study at his home. My husband was just going to drop me off at the Bible study but he decided to attend himself. At that Bible study my husband received the gift of the Holy Ghost.
We began to attend church but doubts started to set in on me. I was looking at the physical appearance of this room at the YWCA... the curtains were ugly, song service lasted for 30 minutes, then they collected tithe and offering. I wasn't going to come back, but I kept coming. After attending for about a month I received the gift of the Holy Ghost too.
I've experienced what walking with the Lord is. I've received material and spiritual blessings since coming to the Lord. Some say I'm lucky but I'm not lucky - I am blessed living for the Lord. The realization that God is always there to help me has made me happy to be in the truth. Now I want to reach those around me who once thought just like I did.
encouraging words- and very true- the curtains may have been ugly and the decor sparse- but God touched your heart despite the limitations of man!
